Yoanna House visits the Smile Stylists

Jacksonville native, Yoanna House, visited the Smile Stylists for a smile consultation and a teeth whitening last month.  Yoanna House, winner of Cycle 2 of America’s Next Top Model, signed with IMG models.  She has had a successful career as a TV host and fashion model since winning the show and just signed a deal to be a fashion reporter on NBC.  Channel 4 news picked up the story from Kerry Speckman’s Jacksonville Magazine Specktator Blog.  Here is a picture of Yoanna House from cycle 2 of Americas Next Top Model.

A’PROPOS Boutique

Published by jason under Uncategorized

We stopped by for a visit with A’PROPOS Boutique owner, Cathy Bedor in Sawgrass Village Shopping Center, before heading off the Hawaii for our annual cosmetic dental convention.  Colleen looked amazing in the chic fashionable cocktail dresses Cathy was picking out for her to try on.  The clothes at A’PROPOS are unique, hip and not easily found elsewhere.  Colleen did well!

Smile Stylists visit the ROAR cheerleaders

We visited the Roar Cheerleaders and spoke with them about the importance of a great smile on the field.  As the official dentists for the ROAR cheerleaders we see many of them in the studio for general and cosmetic dentistry.  Chase was the hit of the practice, getting lots of attention the girls!

Talk about good food and great company!  We’re not talking about our restless 11 month old who won’t sit still for anything except the Culhane’s Shepherds Pie…we’re talking about the Culhane sisters.  One trip to Culhane’s and you’ll notice right away that the patrons of their Irish bar in Atlantic Beach are as much in love with Aine (pronounced “awnya”) and her sisters as they are the food and drink.  We had great food and a wonderful time!  It is no wonder why they were voted Jacksonville Beaches favorite pub and restaurant 2007 and 2008.

Smile Stylist decide to do consults for back teeth

Smile Stylists have decided to start seeing consults for back teeth.

Smile Stylists love making back teeth look good too.  The conservative cosmetic way to replace old silver fillings is not with crowns, but with porcelain inlays and onlays that look like real teeth.  We simply remove the old fillings and replace them with porcelain.  Dentists typically still do crowns on back teeth, but with the newer materials that are strong and beautiful, we only choose to do crowns when we are replacing older crowns.

Today we saw a new patient in our office for a smile consult, with several porcelain fused to metal crowns in her mouth that did not look like teeth. Its hard to believe that this young woman had to get crowns and not more conservative porcelain inlays or onlays.  Teeth are over prepared for crowns, making them weak and more prone to needing a root canal.  They are finished under the gums, causing inflammation and food traps.  We see this way too often in our office.

We will do cleanings and regular exams to make sure your mouth stays healthy and beautiful.

Next time your dentist says you need a crown, give us a call.  Crowns are like an epidemic!

6th Annual Best of Jacksonville Magazine Party

Published by jason under Media, Patients, Uncategorized

Unfortunately, we could not make the 6th Best of Jacksonville Magazine Party this year, because we were out of town, but we were still able to have a great time at the party this year, thanks to Lisa, who toted around a smaller versions of ourselves all night!  She was an excellent host, ensuring that we mingled and had a good time with all our friends and patients.

Babies first Holiday

Published by jason under Personal

What a holiday season!  Especially, if you are 7 months old.  Baby Chase made it through the holidays in both Philadelphia, PA and Ft. Myers, FL.

Here Chase studies a turkey leg.  Some family traditions are not meant to be understood.

If your baby needs to take a nap between opening all his Christmas presents is that considered a little excessive?  Not for Colleen’s Family.

The lucky little guy gets to celebrate Christmas and Hanukkah.

We want to wish everyone a great New Year!  We are looking forward to terrific new things in 2009!
